Methodology
For each month-end, the index takes the median price of every confirmed auction sale in the trailing 365 days for the selected market — sources include Bring a Trailer, Collecting Cars, Cars & Bids, Bonhams, Iconic Auctioneers and Mecum — and rebases the series to 100 at its start. The trailing window smooths month-to-month mix shifts; months with fewer than 30 sales in the window are excluded. The S&P 500 line is rebased to 100 at the same start month. This is a market-level indicator, not a tradeable index, and asking prices are never included.
